Final Weekly Update – September 11th – Recapping Minnesota’s 2023 Mosquito Season

Fall is cattail season at MMCD meaning staff are inspecting breeding sites that may be holding larvae for the Coquilletiddia perturbans or "cattail mosquito" and following up with treatment if necessary. First surveillance is done using a specialized dipper that can get deep at the roots of cattails and other vegetation. Then treatments are done by helicopter, drone, or backpack.
