February 6, 2024SAINT PAUL – The Metropolitan Mosquito Control District (MMCD) is pleased to welcome Daniel Huff as Executive Director following the retirement of Dr. Stephen Manweiler in 2022.
Huff has over 25 years of high-level leadership experience in public health, education, and environmental stewardship. Most recently Huff was Assistant Commissioner for the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) where he served four years overseeing the Environmental Health Division, Infections Disease Epidemiology, Prevention and Control Division, and the Public Health Laboratory during the state’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Prior to MDH, Daniel was the Director of Environmental Health for the city of Minneapolis for nine years where he also served as the Sustainability Coordinator, Environmental Supervisor, and Policy Manager. Other previous positions include Directing the Watershed Protection Program at Friends of the Mississippi, and Dakota County Water Resource Education Coordinator with the University of Minnesota Extension Service.
In his role as Executive Director of MMCD Daniel will work closely with the Metropolitan Mosquito Control Commission and staff at the main office in St. Paul along with six suburban field facilities. “I am excited to support the MMCD Team in protecting residents from mosquito borne diseases and improving the enjoyment for outside activities,” said Huff.
Daniel Huff begins his position with MMCD on January 16th, 2024.
